It has been announced that "Let's Go Kaiki-gumi," a TV anime based on the popular manga by View, which is serialized on the website "Omocoro," will begin airing on July 5th on 28 TBS network stations nationwide every Sunday at 4:30 PM. It was also announced that Amekana, the author known for the "Strange" series of mystery novels such as "Strange House" and "Strange Picture" (Futabasha), will be in charge of the ending theme.
Amekana commented, "I've been a big fan of Professor View's manga 'Let's Go, Mystery Team' for a long time. I felt a warmth in the way the main characters, though somewhat reluctantly, exorcise spirits with empathy and pity, that sets it apart from other Ghostbusters. I was overjoyed when I heard it was going to be made into an anime, but then I was asked to write a song right after, and I was surprised, thinking, 'What!?' 'Are you sure you want me...!?' In short, '○○○○ (song title)' is the theme song for the ghosts being exorcised. I wrote the lyrics from the perspective of the fading spirits. The music is like 'the ending of anime from back then.' I hope it will remind adults of the feeling of watching TV in the living room in the evening. And I hope children will dance along. DANCE WITH ME!!"
The story begins one evening when the protagonist encounters Mechako, the leader of the "Kaiki-gumi," an organization that controls ghosts and monsters that threaten humans. The protagonist, who is six times more afraid of ghosts than the average person, ends up helping the Kaiki-gumi to make a comeback.
The anime will be directed by Yutaka Hirata and produced by C-Station. Tasuku Hatanaka will voice the main character, Ruriko Aoki will voice Mechako, and Shigeru Chiba will provide the narration.
