The art variety show "Kotoge Eiji's How Beautiful!" (TOKYO MX, Tuesdays at midnight) aired on the night of March 17th, and MC Kotoge Eiji of "Viking" reminisced about the popular segment "Sorimimi Hour" from "Tamori Club" (TV Asahi), which ended in 2023.
The theme of the program that day was "The Beatles." It traced the history of the legendary band that influenced fashion and culture.
When his early masterpiece, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" (1963, Japanese title: "Dakishimetai"), was introduced, Kotoge smiled as he listened to the song and began, "This is from Tamori's 'Misheard Lyrics' segment. The chorus goes, 'A stupid urinator'..."
Recalling how the lyrics "I want to hold your hand" were misheard as "stupid urinator" on the "Misheard Lyrics Hour" segment, he laughed and said, "That was a masterpiece, it was so funny!"
Then he repeated, "Can I say that one more time? I didn't say it, but it sounds like it to me." The other cast members, including Kotoge, burst into laughter, and the on-screen text introduced it as "a masterpiece even as a misheard lyrics piece." Kotoge commented thoughtfully, "This is definitely a masterpiece. It's really funny."
