The final episode (episode 9) of the drama series "Reunion ~Silent Truth~" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9 PM), starring actor Ryoma Takeuchi, aired on March 17th, and it has been revealed that the average viewership rating (according to Video Research, Kanto region) was 7.5% for households and 4.3% for individuals. This surpasses the 7.1% for households and 4.0% for individuals recorded in episode 7 (aired on February 24th), marking the show's highest ratings to date.
The drama is an adaptation of the novel "Reunion" (Kodansha) by Dai Yokozeki, winner of the 56th Edogawa Rampo Prize (2010), starring Takeuchi. Four elementary school classmates share a "secret": they buried a gun used in a crime under a cherry tree. 23 years later, Junichi (Takeuchi), now a detective, reunites with Makiko Iwamoto (Mao Inoue), one of the four classmates and his first love, only to find her now a suspect in a new murder case. A poignant human love mystery that begins with a fateful reunion.
The subtitle of the final episode is "The Shocking Truth About the Culprit." It may not have been Junichi (Takeuchi) who shot and killed the bank robber. Minami Ryo (Noriko Eguchi), finally finds the person she believes to be the real culprit after a tenacious investigation. All the crimes and secrets will be revealed after 23 years.
