It has been revealed that actress and singer Yurina Hirate will be performing the opening theme song, "Kill or Kiss," for the TV anime "Marriage Toxin," which is based on a manga currently serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+."
Hirate commented, "When I was recording 'Kill or Kiss,' I sang while thinking about the world of 'Marriage Toxin' and the two main characters! 'Kill or Kiss' is a song that I personally really like; it's a dance number that stands out with its sharp beat and mysterious synths. It coolly depicts the impulses where sweetness and poison intertwine, and it's a song with an addictive sound that's really appealing, so I hope that fans of the original work will also like 'Kill or Kiss'! I myself am looking forward to the day when I can watch the anime. Let's all enjoy it together!!"
It was also announced that "Making of Marriage Toxin," a making-of video series that goes behind the scenes of the anime's production, will be released on YouTube. The series will consist of six parts, and "Making of Marriage Toxin vol.0" has already been released.
The manga is based on a story by Jyakuen and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda. It's a battle action story about Gero Hikaru, a young man who is a "poison user," a lineage of assassins that has continued for hundreds of years, and who teams up with marriage swindler Shirosaki Mei to find the perfect marriage in order to prevent his bloodline from dying out. It has gained popularity, including being selected as the 8th best web manga in the "Next Manga Award 2022".
The anime will be directed by Motonobu Hori, known for works such as "Carole & Tuesday" and "Metallic Rouge," and produced by Bones Film. Haruki Ishitani will voice Hikaru Gero, and Shion Wakayama will voice Mei Shirosaki, a skilled con artist who helps Gero with his marriage search. It will air on Kansai TV/Fuji TV's anime block "Ka-Ani-Bal!!" starting April 7th at 11 PM.
