It has been revealed that "Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo," a film directed by Takashi Miike and starring Shun Oguri and Lily James (known for "Cinderella"), will be released in 2026. It has also been announced that Shotaro Mamiya, female professional wrestler Liv Morgan, Nanase Nishino, and Hiroshi Tachi will be appearing in the film.
Based on "Bad Lieutenant" (1992, directed by Abel Ferrara), starring Harvey Keitel, this film is a new adaptation by director Takashi Miike, with the story set in Tokyo. The story revolves around Kyoji Yabuki (played by Shun Oguri), a police officer who has fallen into darkness and is living a reckless life, and Nguyen (played by James), an FBI agent who comes to Japan for a certain investigation and ends up teaming up with Yabuki. The film is distributed in North America by NEON, the distribution company that has brought us films such as "Anora" (directed by Sean Baker) and "Parasite" (directed by Bong Joon-ho).
In addition to Mamiya, Morgan, Nishino, and Tachi, the cast has also been announced to include Shuhei Nomura, Yuka Mukai, Takanori Iwata, Keisuke Watanabe, Hideo Nakano, Jun Murakami, and Jun Kunimura.
