"A House Alone" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sundays at 7:54 PM) is a variety show that uses satellite photos to find a remote house. On the March 15th broadcast, a search team visits a 200-year-old traditional house in the mountains of Shimane Prefecture, and follows the life of a 67-year-old woman living alone. The guests are actress Rena Tanaka and TV personality Riho Miyamoto.
The search team headed for a region deep in the mountains of Shimane Prefecture. After crossing a valley road overlooking the surrounding high mountains, they came across a village with a rural landscape. After passing through two long tunnels, they encountered a man in the village, who provided valuable information: "There is a house in the mountains where a woman lives alone." However, when they checked the satellite image, the situation changed completely: "This house (shown in the satellite image) has been vacant for about 10 years."
The search team decided to check whether the house they were heading for was vacant. Along the way, they came across fallen leaves piled up on the steep, narrow mountain road, and grass and trees overhanging the road. Eventually, the search team began to see lingering snow, and at the end of a dilapidated, unpaved road, a house appeared, buried in dead grass and trees.
Living in a charming 200-year-old traditional house was a 67-year-old woman who was born and raised in the area. "I believe I will be the one to care for the people of this village at the end," the woman said, recounting her irreplaceable memories with her parents. Guest Tanaka, who was captivated by the video, was moved, saying, "I realized that (women's) careful daily lives are not something that can be easily achieved. They lived with gratitude and love for the land and their ancestors... it really touched my heart."
