On March 11th, TV Asahi held a briefing at its headquarters (Minato Ward, Tokyo) regarding its programming changes for April 2026. The company announced an all-target strategy to "meet the needs of all generations."
Last year, the station won the triple crown in the annual viewer ratings (Kanto region) for the second year in a row in the all-day (6:00 AM to midnight), golden time (7:00 PM to 10:00 PM), and prime time (7:00 PM to 11:00 PM) time slots, and also achieved the triple crown in household viewer ratings for the third year in a row. Director of Content Programming Terada Shinya explained, "We will further strengthen this trend," and added, "We will also focus on developing content IP that is targeted to seniors and kids."
The drama lineup includes "Reborn: The Last Hero" (Tuesdays at 9 p.m.) starring Issei Takahashi, "Borderless: Wide Area Mobile Investigation Team" (Wednesdays at 9 p.m.) starring Tao Tsuchiya and Sato Shori of "timelesz," and "Unsolved Woman: Metropolitan Police Department Document Investigator Season 3" (Thursdays at 9 p.m.) starring Kyoka Suzuki.
In the variety show category, a health information program for seniors called "Udo Yumiko's Health Guide!" (Monday to Friday, 9:55 a.m.) will be launched, featuring freelance announcer Udo Yumiko. A viewer participation program called "Yo-i! Star to! Tobida School" (Sunday, 8 a.m.) will be launched for children.
The late-night time slot will also be reformed. The programs currently airing in the variety slot "Barabara Daisakusen" will be compressed to eight programs, and the broadcast time of each program will be extended. The same time slot will also see the launch of new shows "Mainichi Ogiri & Prize Race" (Wednesdays 2:20-2:45 AM) and "EBiDAN Enthusiasm! Asa Made BUDDiiS" (Thursdays 2:20-2:45 AM). In addition, starting in June, the AI-themed variety show "AI Daisakusen" (Wednesdays 12:15-1:20 AM *Broadcast times may change in some areas) will be broadcast late at night on Wednesdays.
The rescheduling rate was 7.7% for all-day, 17.6% for golden time, and 15.9% for prime time.
