It has been announced that the manga "I'm a Reincarnated Goblin, Do You Have Any Questions?", which is currently being serialized on Shueisha's web manga site "Tonari no Young Jump", will be adapted into a TV anime and will begin airing in October. The main cast has also been announced, with Azusa Tachibana playing the protagonist Akira, a former salaryman who is reincarnated into a goblin, a short-lived race, Hikasa Kikunosuke Toya playing Karen, a security inspector in the Orleans territory, and Tachibana Ansaki playing Chloe, a demon girl. The series will be directed by Kawahara Ryuta and produced by BAKKKA. A teaser visual featuring Akira, Karen, and Chloe has been released.
The story is based on a story by Miki Nazuna and illustrated by Araki Osamu. It is a "super-strong fantasy" about an office worker, Yagami Akira, who is reincarnated as a goblin, the weakest race with a lifespan of just seven days. He inherits numerous skills from the goblins who have passed away due to their "80 Years of Human Life" skill, and rises to prominence in another world. The manga has been popular, with 13 volumes released and a total circulation of over 850,000 copies. The latest volume, 14, will be released on March 18th.
Toya commented, "The goblins in this world are super cute!!!...But their lifespan is only seven days (tears). Akira has been granted an 80-year lifespan through his skills, so how will he use his experiences before being reincarnated to lead the goblins, who only have a lifespan of seven days? This is a work that is packed with highlights! Please look forward to the anime broadcast!"
Hikasa said, "My impression of this work is that it is very thoughtful. Akira has been reincarnated, so it's not all smooth sailing for him; he also feels regret and anger, and while he is harboring these feelings, he repeatedly thinks and acts on how to make things better. Coupled with the kindness that lies beneath him, he ends up making more friends. I think there are also hidden hints for the modern day! I hope you enjoy it!"
Tachibana commented, "At first, Chloe is a strong-willed demon girl, but after meeting Akira, Karen, and various goblins, she becomes a very cute girl who shows many different sides to her. This series features many fascinating characters, starting with the goblins, so I hope you will look forward to the broadcast! Thank you very much!"
Miki, the original author, said, "Actually, out of the nearly 40 series I have published, this was the one I had the least confidence in. Despite being a story about reincarnation in another world, it was not serialized on ' Shosetsuka ni Naro', and it was my first manga original, and the serialization and release of the comics were in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, so there were a lot of uncertainties piling up. But thanks to the support of our readers, the serialization continued steadily, and now it's being made into an anime. I could really feel the enthusiasm of the anime side, who were determined to put their all into a work that had such strong support. I am confident that it will be an incredibly amazing anime, so please look forward to it!"
Araki, who is working on the manga, said, "Even though I've been through script meetings and dubbing sessions, I still feel skeptical and it doesn't seem real. Having my work turned into an anime has been something I've dreamed of since I was a child, and now, thanks to Miki-sensei and all the readers, it has come true. I look forward to excitedly waiting for the anime to air, together with everyone (Have you seen the teaser visual? It's so good I'm overjoyed). I will put my heart into drawing so that you can enjoy the original work even more."
Director Kawahara commented, "The entire staff worked with all their heart and soul to ensure that the wonderful worldview of the original manga was not marred. We hope to deliver a profound story along with the adorable goblins to everyone."
Yuichiro Momose, who is in charge of series composition and scriptwriting, said, "This work is told from the goblins' perspective, and is not a heroic tale, but a story about how they survive. The goblins in this work are portrayed as very lovable and at the same time as poignant beings. Please enjoy this unique masterpiece in animation, which slightly defies the conventional wisdom of fantasy."
Hiroyuki Saito, who is in charge of character design, said, "We carefully designed each character to capture the atmosphere and charm of the original work. We hope that all of our staff will work together to produce the anime. Please look forward to seeing the characters come to life until the broadcast."
