Actor Yuumi Kawai appeared at the press conference announcing the new narrator for NHK's documentary program "Professional Work Style," held in Tokyo on March 10th.
Chief Producer Itaru Arakawa also attended the press conference. CP Arakawa explained the reason for hiring Kawai, saying, "We thought she was someone who would reach her peak, and the answer was Yuumi Kawai." The press conference also showed footage of her first narration and a message from actor Satoshi Hashimoto, who has been the narrator since the show's inception.
Kawai said, "After today, my motivation has increased by about three times. I'm very happy, and I think I should do everything I can."
"Professional Work Style" is a documentary program that closely follows top-class professionals and delves into their work. It began in January 2006 and is now in its 20th year. Actor Satoshi Hashimoto has served as the narrator since the beginning of the program. Kawai will serve as narrator for the first time in the episode featuring tuna fisherman Takekazu Kikuchi, which will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 7:57 pm on March 16th.
