What was the scene that most captivated viewers in the 107th episode (broadcast on March 3rd) of the NHK Asadora drama "Bakebake " (General TV, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM and other times), starring actress Akari Takaishi ? When we looked at minute-by-minute trends in "attention level" (surveyed by REVISIO, Kanto region, preliminary figures), which indicates the percentage of viewers glued to the screen, the peak was 65.5% at 8:13 AM.
" Bakebake" is the 113th morning Asadora. The heroine, Toki Matsuno, and her husband, Lefkada Heaven, are based on Setsu Koizumi, the daughter of a fallen samurai from Matsue, and Lafcadio Hearn(Yakumo Koizumi), known for his works such as "Kwaidan." The drama boldly reconstructs the characters, changing some of the names of characters and organizations to create a fictionalized portrayal.
◇Toki's English is not improving
In episode 107, Haven (Tommy Bastow) is invited by Eliza (Charlotte Kate Fox) to go to the Philippines and write a travelogue about his stay there, which makes Haven (Tommy Bastow) more excited about going there. He also puts more effort into training Toki (Takaishi). However, despite Toki's efforts, his English is not improving. One day, Haven and Toki witness Nagami (Onishi Nobumitsu) in tears. Furthermore, Toki suddenly collapses at the Matsuno residence while Haven is at work.
The "attention level," which indicates the percentage of viewers watching the TV who were paying close attention to the screen, peaked just below 70%, and was generally somewhat sluggish. While it fluctuated wildly in the early and middle stages, the peak of the graph was in the low 60s. It barely managed to reach the 65s by the end of the show.
◇ "Heaven, are you going to the Philippines?" Toki finally finds out.
Three moments from the beginning to the middle of the series drew a little more attention: 8:03 AM (63.0%) and 8:04 AM (61.6%), when Heaven watches from the next room as Toki receives English lessons from Takeru (Yukito Hidaka) and Masaki (Hidaka Yukito), but his English doesn't improve at all; 8:07 AM (62.7%), when Heaven and Toki witness Nagami (Onishi Nobumitsu) crying after reading a letter from his wife that he left behind in Matsue; and 8:09 AM (62.2%), when Toki collapses at home due to poor health and the quack doctor Yabui (DAIGO) examines him, saying that he's "just anemic." Each scene is interesting, but they don't quite grab attention.
After a brief dip in attention, it peaked at its highest point of the day for three minutes from 8:11 AM (64.9%). The 11-minute mark begins when Toki confides in Ran (Misako Renbutsu) about his concerns about not being able to improve his English while having tea. Ran initially asks in English, "What's your name?", but Toki gives no response. After repeating this several times, Toki stands up, thinks about it while looking at a note in his luggage, and finally answers, "My name is Toki." The 11-minute mark is a heartwarming scene of such conversation.
Attention levels continue to drop slightly to 63.5% at around 8:12 AM. Seeing Toki's reaction, Ran, understanding the situation surrounding English, changes the topic and the situation changes completely. "That's enough about English," she says, to which he responds, "I heard your husband is going to live in the Philippines and write a travelogue," "So you're not done with English yet," Toki says. "The Philippines," "travelogue," and other such things are things he's never heard of. You shouldn't say that. Viewers who know the situation will start to get nervous as they watch.
Perhaps because of this, the 8:13 AM reading rose again to the highest level of the day at 65.5%. As Toki began to understand a little of what was being said, he began to ruminate on his own and sort out the situation. "The reason he suddenly started learning English was because he wanted to take me with him," "But then he stopped doing that..."
Ran notices something is wrong and asks, "What's wrong?" Toki replies with questions, "Heaven, are you going to the Philippines?" "Are you going alone? Is that so?" He then repeats, "I didn't hear anything. Nothing." "I didn't hear anything, nothing," as he gradually becomes more and more excited. "What's going to happen? What about me? What about my family?" The moment Toki pours out his feelings to Ran is just under 13 minutes into the episode. How on earth will Toki deal with this from here on out? This was a major turning point in Week 22.
The data used is REVISIO's proprietary indicator "Attention Level" (Kanto region, preliminary figures) published by the company that surveys TV program and commercial viewing habits in 2,000 households in the Kanto region and 600 households in the Kansai region. A dedicated device equipped with a human body recognition sensor constantly measures whether people are looking at the TV screen, and calculates the percentage of people in front of the TV who are paying close attention to the program.
