Grammy Award-winning singer The Weeknd has written a recommendation for Oseto Riku's manga "Nezumi no Hatsukoi," which is currently being serialized in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha).
With the latest ninth volume of the comic due to be released on March 6th, The Weeknd, an avid reader of the series, commented, "Like a tumble into an abyss of violence and fragility, 'A Mouse's First Love' grabs the reader by the throat and won't let go, offering no mercy. In the midst of carnage and despair, Oseto Riku clings to a single ray of hope, where love cuts deeper and mercilessly into the heart than any blade. Beautiful, brutal and uncompromising, this dark romance is not a story to be read with half-hearted determination. But even so, readers will find themselves hoping for a happy ending."
Original author Oseto expressed his delight, saying, "I was truly surprised and honored. I was moved that The Weeknd was able to express in beautiful words aspects of 'The Mouse's First Love' that I myself was unable to put into words. I will do my best to complete the manga, living up to the comments I received."
The story is about a young girl named Nezumi who was raised as an assassin but falls in love... a "hitman love story." The series began serialization in November 2023. The total number of copies of the comic has exceeded 1.5 million.
