It was announced on February 23rd that singer MISIA will be performing the theme song "Last Dance Anata to" for the 29th film in the popular "Detective Conan" series, based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama. This will be MISIA's first time performing a film theme song in about five years, and her first time performing a theme song for "Detective Conan."
MISIA commented, "I am very happy to be singing the theme song. This time, the story is about Hagiwara Chihaya, a motorcycle police officer known as the 'Goddess of the Wind.' I worked on the production while facing her thoughts and the depth of her emotions, which have never been spoken of before."
Regarding the thoughts he put into the theme song, he said, "'Last Dance with You' conveys not only the sadness of 'the last', but also the feelings of the time that never ends in our hearts and the bonds that never fade. The memories of the time we spent together will continue to support me. I entrusted this song with that quiet strength. I would be happy if this song could gently touch everyone's hearts amid the tension and lingering aftertaste of the story."
Producers Kondo Shuho, Yoshida Tsuyoshi, and Okada Yuhei had this to say about the theme song: "Hagiwara Chihaya, the 'Goddess of Wind', stands at the center of the story for the first time in this theatrical release. We wanted the song to symbolize her, who combines beauty and strength. With that in mind, we asked MISIA, Japan's leading 'goddess of song', to write the theme song. The lyrics and melody are catchy and you'll stick in your head once you hear them. Even before the information ban was lifted, I found myself humming along without realizing it, and had to struggle to contain myself. We are relieved that the song can finally be released in the trailer. We look forward to sharing the moment with everyone when MISIA's overwhelming voice fills the cinema."
The latest video, featuring the theme song "Last Dance with You," has also been released on YouTube. At the beginning of the video, Hagiwara Chihaya reflects on the anniversary of the death of his younger brother Kenji, who was killed while defusing a bomb, saying, "Kenji. What were you trying to say back then?" The police motorcycle "Angel," equipped with advanced driving assistance functions, is unveiled, and as the story unfolds in the streets of Yokohama, a connection is suggested between a mysterious motorcycle accident that occurred two years ago and the sudden appearance of a mysterious black motorcycle called "Lucifer," and the ominous atmosphere lurking behind the incident gradually emerges.
In the second half, the fast-paced theme song "Last Dance with You" plays, and Chihaya pursues Lucifer at high speed, accelerating the fierce battle between the "Goddess of Wind" and the "Black Fallen Angel." Their cars collide at close range, and Chihaya shows his determination as he declares, "Let's settle this." The Boy Detectives Club is put in danger, and even Ran is taken away.
The main visual was also released, depicting Conan with a strong gaze and Chihaya standing with Rin and a police motorcycle against the backdrop of the vibrant blue sky of Yokohama. Kenji Hagiwara and Jinpei Matsuda are also depicted with expressions of fragility.
"Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway" is set in Yokohama, where Conan and his friends are visiting the Kanagawa Motorcycle Festival, a motorcycle festival, when a mysterious, out-of-control "black motorcycle" suddenly appears in front of them. Chasing it is Hagiwara Chihaya, a police motorcycle officer from the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Traffic Mobile Unit and the "Goddess of Wind" whom Ran once saw. Later, at the festival venue, a police motorcycle equipped with the latest technology, "Angel," is unveiled. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a "black motorcycle (Lucifer)" goes out of control. Guest voice actors include Yokohama Ryusei and Hata Mei. The film will be released on April 10th.
"Detective Conan" is a manga that depicts Conan Edogawa solving difficult cases one after another, and began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) in 1994. The total number of comics published has exceeded 270 million copies. The TV anime has been broadcast since 1996, and the first movie, "Detective Conan: The Time Bombed Skyscraper," was released in 1997.
The 28th movie in the series, "Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One-Eyed," released in 2025, grossed approximately 14.6 billion yen, surpassing the 10 billion yen mark for the third consecutive year, and setting a new record for the first time for a Japanese film by attracting an audience of over 10 million people for the second consecutive year.
◇Comment from MISIA
I am very happy to be singing the theme song "Last Dance with You" for the movie "Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway."
"Detective Conan" has been loved by many people for many years. I think one of the great charms of this series is that each and every character is loved deeply. This time, we are telling the story of Hagiwara Chihaya, a police motorcycle officer known as the "Goddess of the Wind." We proceeded with the production while facing her thoughts and the depth of her emotions, which have never been told before.
"Last Dance with You" not only conveys the sadness of "the last time," but also the feelings of the time that never ends in our hearts and the bonds that never fade. The memories of the time we spent together will continue to support us. I entrusted this song with that quiet strength.
I hope this song will gently touch your heart amidst the tension and lingering aftertaste of the story. Please experience it on the impressive screen at the theater.
We are currently in the middle of a nationwide tour, and we look forward to the day when we can deliver this song to you all in person.
