It was announced on February 6th that the popular novel "The Exiled Cheat-Granting Magician Enjoys a Carefree Second Life. ~I can grant 'Enhancement Points' to not only weapons but everything, and I can cancel the effects at any time at will, but are the remaining people okay?~ (Cheer Granting)", which originated from the novel submission site "Let's Become a Novelist", will be adapted into a TV anime. The comic adaptation of the popular work, currently serialized on the website "Gekkan Maga Kichi" (Kodansha), has sold over 1.3 million copies in total, and the anime will be produced by PAWORKS, the studio behind "True Tears" and "SHIROBAKO". A super teaser visual and super teaser PV have been released, depicting the characters Rain and Lily setting out on an adventure.
The story is about a magician with zero combat experience who is expelled from his guild and uses magic to transform anything into cheat equipment, leading a carefree new life as an adventurer. In a world where magic and science coexist, chaotic gags and deep human drama intertwine, sparking a lot of speculation among core fans. The novel and manga versions depict different stories, to the point that the author of the original novel, Asa Mutsushima, said, "Please note that the content of the novel and manga versions is about 99% different," and the unpredictable developments have made the series popular.
Rokushima Asa commented, "I'm very happy that 'Chi Gaishu' is being made into an anime. Congratulations to Gyugyo Mochi-sensei. I always look forward to reading the manga, and I can't wait to see Rain and the other characters moving in the anime. I hope that this will be an opportunity for 'Chi Gaishu' to spread even further, not only among manga readers, but also among those who haven't read it. Once again, congratulations to everyone involved in 'Chi Gaishu'!"
Gyomuyoumochi, who is in charge of the comic adaptation, said, "I was surprised to hear someone say that they joined PAWORKS because they wanted to work on this anime. After the decision to make an anime was made, I met the animation production staff, and they all work with great passion. I trust and respect them and leave it to them. I never dreamed that I would be interacting with people in this way in my life, but it is all thanks to the readers who support me on a daily basis. I promise that this anime will not disappoint those people. I am one of those people who are looking forward to seeing the finished product. I would like to thank the readers who have given me these opportunities and experiences in their lives, and to Mutsushima Asa and Kisui for their generosity in this serialization."
Kisui, the original character designer, said, "I'm very happy that 'Chi Gaishu' is being made into an anime! I'm very moved to see how the work has grown, from the original author, Rokushima Asa-sensei, to Gyomuyoumochi-sensei who is in charge of the manga version, to the anime production...! I'm deeply grateful to the fans and everyone involved who has supported the work... I can't wait for the anime to air!"
