Cooking enthusiast Remi Hirano appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on February 5th with her eldest son, Sho Wada, the vocalist of the rock band "TRICERATOPS." This was the first time the mother and son appeared together on television.
When asked by Tetsuko about his impressions of appearing on television together for the first time, Sho blushed and said, "It felt like a parent-child meeting. It was like a school visit." Remi happily added, "(Sho) thought he wanted to show his filial piety. My second son said, 'Sho-chan has grown up, hasn't he?'"
Remi revealed that she had received numerous offers from the show to appear with her father and son. "(Sho) always said, 'There's no way I'd appear with my mother!'" she recalled.
When asked why he decided to appear on the show, Sho explained, "For a while after my debut, as someone in a rock band, I felt a disconnect between my rock image and my mother's character. I want to be seen with a rock image, but I was hesitant to appear on TV with her, wondering if it would be appropriate. I guess at my age, it's a matter of accepting your roots."
On the show, a photo of "Nice Shiso Miso" made by Remi was shown. It is a dish that Sho loves. Remi confessed, "Whenever Sho comes over (to my house), I always make it. But you know, eggplant is the dish I hate more than anything in the world (laughs)."
When Tetsuko revealed, "It's really true. Apparently today is the first time he's told her. He's been keeping it a secret," Sho was surprised and said, "Really? I didn't know that! I love her!"
