It has been revealed that the total number of copies of the light novel series "Ascendance of a Bookworm: I'll Do Anything to Become a Librarian" (TO Books), which is also popular as a TV anime, including e-books, has exceeded 13 million.
The light novel is popular on the novel submission website "Let's Become a Novelist," with the first volume released on January 25, 2015. In the more than 10 years since its release, it has been adapted into a comic, and has been made into an anime, drama CD, merchandise, and more.
The series is a light novel written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by Yu Shiina. It follows Urano Motosu, a girl living in modern Japan, who dies on the day she secures her dream job at a library. She regains consciousness as Myne, a young girl in another world ruled by nobles with magical powers, and struggles to obtain a book. The first season of the anime aired from October to December 2019, the second from April to June 2020, and the third from April to June 2022.
The new TV anime series "Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter" will be broadcast nationwide on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV from April 4th every Saturday at 5:30pm. It will run for two consecutive seasons.
