It has been announced that Chiaki Kobayashi will be appearing as a voice actor in the TV anime "Ice Wall," which is based on the webtoon by Kocha Agazawa, which was serialized on the digital manga service LINE Manga. Kobayashi will play Igarashi Tsubasa, a popular classmate of Koyuki Hikawa and Miki Azumi, who is a member of the soccer club.
Igarashi Tsubasa is popular in his class, but he is blunt and lacks tact. He is a character who had something to do with Koyuki in middle school. Kobayashi said, "Though he has the adolescent arrogance, unfounded confidence, and foul mouth, he also has a genuine and emotional side, which is why I think he has so many friends. So even though he is the source of trauma for Koyuki, I didn't want to make him just a nasty kid. I tried to be conscious of how to portray this mentally immature side of him, who seems to be thinking about others but is actually thinking about himself."
Images of Ponta, the fluffy Pomeranian kept at Amamiya Minato's house, and Uppi, the hugely popular character at the theme park UPPI GOLD PARK in the story, were also released.
The series has been viewed over 160 million times on LINE Manga, and the comics have sold over 2 million copies. It was serialized from January 2020 to April 2022. Koyuki Hikawa is not good at interacting with people, and has built a wall between herself and others. In high school, she spends her time alone, with only her childhood friend, Miki Azumi, to connect with. However, she meets Minato Amemiya, who for some reason begins to close the gap between them, and Yota Hino, a laid-back and kind basketball club member.
The anime will be directed by Mankyu and produced by Studio KAI. Anna Nagase will play Koyuki Hikawa, Fuka Izumi will play Miki Azumi, Shoya Chiba will play Minato Amemiya, and Keiji Inomata will play Yota Hino. It will be broadcast nationwide on 28 TBS affiliates every Thursday at 11:56am starting from April 2nd.
