It has been announced that the official spin-off of Nishi Osamu's manga "Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun," currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Akita Shoten), "Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun if Episode of Mafia," will be adapted into a TV anime and will be broadcast on NHK General TV from January 2027. A teaser visual featuring the young boy Irma has been released.
"Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun if Episode of Mafia" is based on a concept by Nishi and illustrated by Hirosha. The action comedy begins when Iruma, a kind-hearted boy living in a slum, becomes the grandson of a mafia boss through a series of unexpected events. In order to become a respectable underboss, Iruma overcomes one crisis after another while working together with his friends to grow as a person. The series began serialization in Bessatsu Shonen Champion (published by the same publisher) in 2023 and has garnered popularity, with the total number of copies of the comic series published exceeding 1.2 million. In 2025, it moved to Weekly Shonen Champion.
Hirosha commented, "Thanks to everyone, 'if Mafia' is going to be made into an anime!! I'm happy just to be able to draw my favorite characters, but to be able to see them moving and talking in the anime is truly a writer's dream. It's another world from the original spin-off, 'Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun'. I hope you enjoy their differences and their slightly dark yet gentle story."

"Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun" is a school comedy about a boy named Suzuki Iruma who is sold to a demon by his parents for his own selfish reasons, enrolls in a school in the demon world, and lives his school life while hiding the fact that he is human. The series began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion in 2017. The TV anime is also gaining popularity, with the fourth series scheduled to air on NHK Educational TV from April 2026.
