It has been announced that a pop-up shop called "-Freeren Creation-" for the second season of the TV anime "Funeral of Freiren," based on the manga currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan), will be held in four cities in succession, starting with the Yurakucho Marui venue in Tokyo on March 6th. This is the second pop-up shop from Madhouse, the studio behind the anime, and is based on the concept of "Let's get people to experience animation production firsthand!" and visuals have been released depicting Freiren and the others taking on the challenge of anime production. New original visuals will be released in the future.
The pop-up shop will sell goods using original visuals, cuts, and items using original drawings. It will be held at Yurakucho Marui from March 6th to 22nd, Kobe Marui in Hyogo from April 3rd to 12th, Matsuzakaya Nagoya in Aichi from April 15th to 27th, and Hakata Marui in Fukuoka from May 1st to 10th. The goods will also be sold on the online shopping site "Meetoma".
"Funeral of Freiren" is a manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in April 2020. Freiren is a magician in the hero's party who defeated the Demon King. Being an elf, Freiren lives a long life. After experiencing the death of a companion, she embarks on a journey to "discover people." The manga has been selected for the Manga Taisho 2021, the 25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Newcomer Award, the 69th (2023) Shogakukan Manga Award, and the 48th Kodansha Manga Award in the Boys' category. The manga has sold over 35 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime aired on Nippon Television's anime slot "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT (Furaani)" from September 2023 to March 2024. The second season is currently airing in the same slot every Friday at 11:00 PM.
