It was announced on February 4th that Disney and Pixar's latest animated film, Hoppers (directed by Daniel Chung, scheduled for release on March 13th), will be screened in eight different versions. In addition, three special posters featuring cute forest animals have been released for the Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and IMAX versions.
"When I Became a Beaver" tells the story of Mabel, an animal-loving college student who learns that the forest she holds dear will be destroyed by a highway project. In order to protect this precious place, she uses secret technology to transform into the appearance of a beaver and devises a plan to protect the animals and the forest.
Director Chung, who served as a storyboard artist for "Inside Out" (2015), was inspired by Studio Ghibli's "Pom Poko" (1994, directed by Isao Takahata) and thoroughly researched the beaver ecosystem to create this film. In the Japanese version, actor Kyoko Yoshine will voice the role of Mabel, and Shinya Kote will voice the beaver king, King George.
There are eight screening formats: 2D (subtitled/dubbed), Dolby Atmos 2D (subtitled/dubbed), Dolby Cinema 2D (dubbed), 4DX2D (dubbed), MX4D2D (dubbed), and IMAX2D (dubbed). In addition to regular 2D, there are also Dolby Atmos, which uses the latest surround sound technology, and 4DX and MX4D, where the seats move in accordance with the movie scenes and you can experience the movie with special effects such as wind, water, and scents, allowing you to experience an immersive experience that makes you feel like you've "infiltrated" the animal world just like Mabel.
The Dolby Cinema version of the special poster features Mabel in her beaver form, with a seated figure in the background, being "transported" into the beaver via secret technology. The IMAX version features the expression of Ellen, Mabel's companion, a bear who always looks hungry and grumpy.
In addition to Mabel being held in Ellen the bear's mouth, the 4DX version also features King George the Beaver, the "too kind" king who leads his forest friends, and the crowned members of the Grand Council of Animals. The film features a wide variety of unique characters, including the King of Birds, the Queen of Fish, the Queen of Insects, the Queen of Reptiles, and the King of Amphibians. Also worth noting is the cute lizard Tom, perched on Ellen the bear's shoulder.
