The main promotional video for the anime "Baki-dou," based on the fourth installment of Itagaki Keisuke's fighting manga "Baki," has been released on YouTube. Miyamoto Musashi, the "symbol of the strongest," descends upon an underground arena where weapons are now allowed, challenging the arena's warriors, including Doppo Orochi, Gouki Shibukawa, and Kaioh Retsu. The video impressively depicts the warriors excited by this unprecedented battle of swords vs. fists, where defeat means death. It also includes a scene where Musashi faces off against Yujiro Hanma.
It was also announced that the band WANIMA will perform the opening theme (OP) "Furuboko" and rapper Novel Core will perform the ending theme (ED) "Mountain Top."
KENTA of WANIMA commented, "I grew up reading and watching the Baki series from a young age, and was excited by its worldview that went beyond common sense and its many famous scenes, and my friends and I would imitate them. I wrote this song based on the feeling in the Miyamoto Musashi arc that "the way of life itself is a battle," and the feeling of continuing to stand even after being completely beaten down. I'm happy to have been involved in this production. I'm grateful."
Novel Core said, "I am truly honored to have been entrusted with the ending of 'Baki-Dou.' Yujiro is the strongest, and therefore the loneliest of all. The title 'Mountain Top' embodies the 'price of strength', as seen from Baki's perspective as he tries to get to the source of his strength, and the closer he gets to the top of the mountain, the thinner the oxygen becomes. Furthermore, by reflecting in the lyrics the philosophy of strength that the world of Baki has always spoken of -- 'Those who work hard cannot defeat those who have fun' -- I think it has become an exciting song that resonates with the drama of the fierce battle with Musashi. I hope that you will be able to feel the gimmicks I've hidden throughout the song along with the anime."
"Baki-Dou" is a manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Akita Shoten) from 2014 to 2018. With the end of the "strongest father-son quarrel on earth," Baki and other veteran fighters are overcome with unbearable boredom. Meanwhile, 364 meters below Tokyo Skytree, a plan to bring the master swordsman Miyamoto Musashi back to life in the present day is underway. The story depicts the fierce battle between Baki and his friends and Miyamoto Musashi, who is resurrected using cloning technology and spiritualism. The anime will be available worldwide exclusively on Netflix from February 26th.
The "Baki" series is a fighting manga that depicts the battles between fighters such as underground arena champion Baki Hanma and his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is known as "the strongest creature on earth." The first part, "Grappler Baki," began serialization in 1991 in "Weekly Shonen Champion." The latest work in the series, "Baki Rahen," is currently being serialized in the same magazine.
