The 87th episode of the NHK morning drama "Bakeke" (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others), starring Takaishi Akari, was broadcast on February 3rd, and viewers were drawn to the tragedy that befell Toki (Takaishi) while she was out shopping.
Toki is depressed by the gossip going around town. Worried about her, Tsukasasuke (Takashi Okabe) and Fumi (Chizuru Ikewaki) reach out to her, but Tsukasasuke has an injury to his face. Hearing a noise outside the front door, Heaven (Tommy Bastow) and Toki go to check on her and find a discarded fan with the words "Toki Rashamen" written on it.
Toki, noticing something strange about the scar on Tsukasasuke's face, asks him about it, and Tsukasasuke says that he got into a fight with a sumo wrestler who was making baseless rumours while he was delivering milk. Worried, Nishikori (Yoshizawa Ryo) rushes over, and Heaven thanks him, saying, "You're really my friend." When Tsukasa asks why this has happened, Nishikori explains that it's because of an article in the Matsue Shimpo.
Then Kajitani (Iwasaki Udai), who wrote the article, comes in and apologizes, saying, "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to do that either, but it just started a fire..." Tsukasasuke grabs Kajitani and says, "Write in tomorrow's newspaper that 'Otoki is not a rasshamen'!"
Kajitani then asks, "Then let me confirm one thing," and asks, "You're really...really...not a Rashamen, right Toki?" Heaven explodes in anger, yelling in English, "Don't mess with me! Shut up! I can't forgive you!" and throws Kajitani into the garden. Heaven tells Toki, "I will protect you," and embraces him tenderly.
Afterwards, Toki and Fumi disguise themselves and go shopping, but are refused the sale of clams, with the shopkeeper saying, "We can't sell to you guys." The two flee the scene, hiding their faces, but on their way home, someone throws a stone at Toki, causing him to bleed from the forehead.
When Heaven returned home, she hugged Toki, whose head was bandaged, and instinctively ran out the front door with a wooden sword in hand. She found a discarded voodoo doll. Toki frantically tried to stop Heaven, who was furious, saying, "Stop it! I'm fine!"
Comments on social media included, "This is a hellish development," "This morning is such a shock. I've been bawling my eyes out since I first heard it, thinking about how painful it is to be slandered based on people's own assumptions," "Oh... how painful... they've completely changed their mind," "Throwing stones is terrible," "Today's episode was too painful," and "I never thought they'd be treated this badly."
