It has been announced that actor Kohei Nagata will play the lead character Gavan Infinity/Doki Reiji in "Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity" (TV Asahi, Sundays at 9:30 AM), the first installment of the new special effects series "PROJECT RED," which will begin airing on February 15th. This was revealed during the "Super Production Announcement" streamed on YouTube on January 18th.
Nagata is 28 years old, born on September 12, 1997, in Kanagawa Prefecture. He has been active mainly in the stage industry, playing the role of Koryu Kagemitsu in the musical "Touken Ranbu " and the role of Rin Itoshi in the stage play " Blue Lock 2nd STAGE." He played the role of rickshaw driver Daisuke Todoroki in the drama series "Asakusa Last Boss Grandma" (Tokai TV/Fuji TV), which aired in July 2025. He is affiliated with the talent agency "Rising Production."
In this film, Reiji plays an investigator in the Materials Division of the Earth Branch of the Galactic Federation Police. He "deposits" his angry emorug into Gavan Infinity. Filled with a passionate sense of justice, he is honest about his anger. Using the Materials Division, a window-stopping department, as a cover, he travels across dimensions to other universes when an Emolgia incident occurs on the infinitely numerous multiverse Earths. He is a charmer who meets someone calling himself Gavan in another universe, and while they are sometimes misunderstood and sometimes hit it off, they pursue Emolgia criminals in a joint investigation and form a deep friendship.
At the Super Production Announcement, he showed off for the first time the "Vaporizing" pose, the command used to transform into the metallic red combat suit. "Right now I'm filled with a sense of responsibility and a sense of 'I'm going to do it!' and I'm overflowing with 'positive emotional vibrations,'" he said enthusiastically.
"Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity" is a completely new "Gavan" that has been reconstructed using the latest visual and production techniques while retaining the visuals and space-based sci-fi elements of "Space Sheriff Gavan," which aired from 1982 to 1983. The story unfolds in a worldview based on the "multiverse theory," in which there is not just one universe, but another Earth that is identical to Earth, and Reiji solves cases set in a variety of dimensions.

When I was chosen to play the role of Reiji, I was surprised and overwhelmed with joy. Now I feel a sense of responsibility and a strong determination to "do it!", and I'm overflowing with "positive emotional vibrations."
Reiji is a very nonchalant character, and I've been talking with Director Fukuzawa about how that came about. With the advice of Director Fukuzawa (Hirofumi), I came up with some cool poses for Reiji, so I hope you'll pay attention to those as well. Director Fukuzawa paid close attention to the details when creating the action scenes, and I hope you'll pay attention to how he's been so careful to convey Reiji's personality through his fighting style, and how his fighting style changes as the action gets more exciting!
I believe what we are trying to do now is to create new history. I think we will face high obstacles along the way, but just like the theme of this work, "overcoming," we want to join forces and "surpass" those obstacles.
