It has been announced that former AKB48 member and actor Anna Iriyama will be appearing in the role of Amou Rui in "Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity" (TV Asahi, Sundays at 9:30 AM), the first installment of the new special effects series "PROJECT RED," which will begin airing on February 15th. This was revealed during the "Super Production Announcement" streamed on YouTube on January 18th.
This new work is a completely new "Gavan" that inherits the visuals and space-set sci-fi elements of "Space Sheriff Gavan," which aired from 1982 to 1983, while being reconstructed using the latest visual expression and directing methods. The story unfolds in a worldview based on the "multiverse theory," in which there is not just one universe, but other Earths that are identical to Earth, and Gavan Infinity/Doki Reiji (played by Kohei Nagata) solves cases set in a variety of dimensions.
Rui is the head of the Public Order Headquarters of "Multiverse Earth Lambda 8018 (Lambda Hachimaru Hito Hachi)," a different dimension from the universe in which the main character, Reiji, lives. She is the boss of Space Sheriff Gavan Bushido/Aikokuin Setsuna (played by Akabane Ryuga) of Lambda 8018. She is calm and collected, and has great trust in Setsuna. She bears the exact same resemblance to the alien woman who gave the artificial human Setsuna a name long ago, but Rui is not yet aware of this.
Iriyama commented, "People often tell me that I look like a reliable person, but that's not actually the case (laughs). But I think I always have a calm side, and I think that's something I have in common with Rui."
She also said, "I would also like to try vapor deposition, so I'm looking forward to reading the script, but there are no scenes like that at the moment (laughs). I wonder if Rui will be able to vaporize in the future... so please look forward to it!"
