Shiraishi Sei, the popular actor who plays Nao, the protagonist's childhood friend, in the 2026 NHK Taiga drama "Toyotomi Brothers!" (NHK General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), will appear on the NHK program "Gekitotsu Meshiagare" (NHK General TV), which will be broadcast from 7:57pm on January 14th. The program on this day is a collaboration with "Toyotomi Brothers!" and will be themed around "Omusubi ," a food eaten by people in the Warring States period.
In the program, three people - a rice farmer from Niigata, a high school student studying cooking in Okayama, and a local revitalization volunteer from Mie - will use local ingredients to show off two types of Omusubi : "Simple Omusubi that let you enjoy the rice" and "Entertaining Omusubi that let you enjoy the fillings." Culinary experts Chizuru Ohara and Ryuta Kijima, who participated in the judging, will also introduce their recommended filling ideas.
Shiraishi commented, "I was curious to see how everyone would create individuality with the Omusubi, and I was amazed at how flexible their imaginations were. Each of the three was different, and I realized that Omusubi are a deep subject. They were delicious all the way to the end, and I never got bored of them, so it was really fun. I'm very satisfied. Please be sure to check out the collaboration between 'Gekitotsu Meshiagare' and 'Toyotomi Brothers!'"
