Shueisha is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and to commemorate this, a special website called "SHUEISHA MANGA EXPO" was launched on January Getsuku. A variety of special manga-related projects will be held over the course of a year to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary.
In the contribution project "Memorable Stories Selected by Manga Artists," which features a stellar lineup of over 40 artists, the artists themselves will select "memorable stories" and introduce them with their comments. The first installment will feature Osamu Akimoto, the author of "Kochikame." He will comment on the final installment of the series (included in volume 200 of the manga) and the original illustration for the "Kochikame Exhibition" (included in volume 201 of the manga). Morimoto Kozueko will appear in the second installment, and Hara Yasuhisa in the third installment. Contributors from the fourth installment onwards will be announced on the special website from time to time.
In the "My Recommended Books" contribution project, in which celebrities from various fields participate, each celebrity introduces "manga that they remember fondly" and "manga that they want people to read now," along with their own comments. The first guest is Takefusa Kubo, a soccer player who is active on the Japanese national team. He recommends and comments on "One Piece" and "Naruto." Links to the book's details screen, where you can read the recommended books, are also provided, allowing you to quickly read the books that interest you.
Special features such as the "All volumes for 100 yen sale" and "This month's top 100 recommended manga" being implemented on the special website will also see similar campaigns being implemented at each online bookstore.
