On January 4th, it was announced that a new theatrical anime version of "Witch's Journey," based on the light novel by GA Novel (SB Creative), will be produced. A teaser trailer featuring the Ashen Witch, Elaina, was also released. This will be the first new film since the TV anime aired from October to December 2020. More details will be announced in the future.
Original author Shiraishi Sadanori said, "To everyone who has contacted me via the email address or replies on my X asking, 'When are you going to make a sequel?' We are making a sequel to 'Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina.' Now you don't need to contact us anymore! And it's a movie! A movie! The story of the film adaptation, which has been progressing steadily behind the scenes with various adults, has finally made me happy that we can all now share it with you. We have only been able to get this far thanks to the cooperation of so many people. There are so many people I want to thank that I don't know where to turn next. Anyway, I am looking forward to it both as an author and as a fan of the Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina anime!"
Azur, the original character designer, commented, "I never thought the day would come when I would be able to see Elaina's journey on the big screen in a theater. I am overwhelmed with emotion...!! I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff who worked on the animation and to everyone who has supported me up to this point."
"Witch's Journey" is a light novel self-published by Shiraishi Jounari as an e-book in 2014. It has been published in book form by GA Novel since 2016. The story follows Elaina, who became the highest-ranking "witch" among wizards at a young age, and is inspired by the travel stories she read as a child, as she embarks on a long, carefree journey... October 2, 2025 marks the fifth anniversary of the TV anime's broadcast, and 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the original work.
