To commemorate the start of the broadcast of the TV anime "The Darwin Incident ," based on the manga by Shun Umezawa, which was also the winner of the Grand Prize at the "Manga Taisho 2022" awards, from January 6th, the authors of the serialized magazine "Afternoon" (Kodansha) have contributed original illustrations. In addition to illustrations by Hitoshi Iwaaki Iwaaki, known for " Parasyte " and "Historie," depicting Charlie from " The Darwin Incident" and Migi from "Parasyte," illustrations by Masakazu Ishiguro of "Heaven's Great Demon Land," Tsutomu Nihei of "Knights of Sidonia," and Makoto Yukimura of "Vinland Saga" have been released.
Takamatsu Misaki of "Skip and Loafer," Tsurumai Kada of "Medalist," Doronota Inuhiko of "To Walk in Space with You," and Yamaguchi Tsubasa of "Blue Period" also contributed original illustrations.
"The Darwin Incident" has been serialized in "Afternoon" since 2020. Charlie, a "humanzee" born between a human and a chimpanzee, faces human problems such as terrorism, online outrage, and discrimination. The series has sold over 2.2 million copies in total.
The anime will be directed by Tsuda Naokatsu and produced by Belnox Films. Atsumi Tanezaki will play Charlie, a "humanzee" born from a human and a chimpanzee, Mitsuho Kanbe will play Lucy Eldred, whom Charlie meets when he enrolls at the school, and Akio Otsuka will play Rivera Feyerabend. It will be broadcast on TV Tokyo from midnight on January 6th.
