The TV anime " Noble Reincarnation, " based on the light novel by Miki Nazuna, which originated on the novel submission website " Shosetsuka ni Naro ," will begin airing on TOKYO MX, BS Nippon TV, and AT-X from January 7th. The protagonist, Noah, is reincarnated into the privileged position of the emperor's thirteenth child, and is born with an infinite level cap and a cheat skill that allows him to add the abilities of others he commands to his own, making him unrivaled... This is a fantasy about ruling another world. This marks the "first time" for Nanami Karin, who plays Noah, to take on the role of a boy. We spoke with Nanami, Miyashita Saki, who plays Zoe, Noah's personal maid, and Azusa Tachibana, who plays Alice, an up-and-coming singer, about what went on behind the scenes during the recording.
◇A refreshing story of good triumphing over evil
-What are your impressions of the work and characters?
Nanami: Noah grows by gathering the support of the people and his subordinates. That's why his humanity is so important. He doesn't push himself forward, he knows when to back off, he's smart and maneuverable, and he's smart.
Mr. Miyashita , Noah sees into the future in ways that no one else can.
I also like the fact that Nanami isn't just obsessed with her own achievements.
When I first read Tachibana-san's work , I was impressed by how amazing Noah was and how it felt like a good read. Noah solves all sorts of problems so smartly that it's reassuring to watch. Everything Noah deals with is handled so carefully, one by one, that it's captivating to watch. It's stress-free.
Nanami: There are some good-versus-evil elements to the story, like in period dramas, so I think it will be refreshing.
Miyashita: Even the so-called bad characters are actually thinking about the land they live in, and for some unavoidable reason they end up committing evil deeds, so they're not necessarily bad.
Nanami: What is justice? is also a theme.
I think it would be interesting to look at it from each of Miyashita 's perspectives.
◇Almost his first role as a boy
--Noah talks a lot. He has a lot of monologues. Was that difficult?
Nanami: It was more difficult than I imagined (laughs). I had an image of Noah as being dignified, but I was directed to make him a little cute. At first, I tried to portray him as a realistic six-year-old. He has the cuteness of a six-year-old, but also cleverness, and I had to make that gap clear, but that was a struggle. Noah is very pure and not at all cheeky.
--There's a lot of explanation, but it's easy to understand.
Nanami: I was careful about that. There are parts that feel like a period drama, and the dialogue is a bit stiff. There are also parts that are crisp yet monotonous, so I was conscious of making it as easy to understand as possible, and my brain was working at full speed. The tempo was important, and the director had a clear finished picture in his head, so I did my best to act in a way that wouldn't deviate from that. There is a unique sense of tempo, and that mysterious feeling is really interesting, so I hope you will pay attention to it.
-What did Tachibana-san and Miyashita-san keep in mind when acting?
Tachibana: There was one thing I struggled with at first. I often get direction to "make myself older," but with Alice, I was told to "make myself younger." There was a stereotype that singing alone in a bar meant that she was an adult at heart, but she is a 12-year-old girl. I tried to retain her true-to-life femininity. She is shy and timid at times, but because she is trying to act a little older in an adult setting, she still has a childlike quality. I did my best to act sensitively.
Miyashita-san's Zoe is the maid who serves Noah-sama the closest, so I carefully portrayed the sense of distance between them. Although she is always by his side, there is a difference in their social status, so the sense of distance is exquisite. I was conscious that even as Noah-sama grows up, the sense of distance between them will not change.
Nanami-san , you shouldn't be in love with Noah. Is it because you're in love with him? Or is it because you respect him?
Miyashita-san, that's difficult. Respect can develop into love, but is it pure respect? There are scenes where she blushes, so maybe she's actually in love. That's up to your imagination!
What's interesting about Nanami is that there are no scenes where he gets lovey-dovey with girls, and he carries out politics in a solid manner.
-Nanami-san, have you ever played a boy before?
I've played multiple roles with Nanami-san before, but this is my first time as a main character. It was also my first time auditioning for a boy's role. I even thought it must be some kind of mistake. In my first or second year after debuting, I tried to include a boy's role in my voice sample, but it was rejected (laughs). I thought it would be difficult. The slightest thing could make me sound like a girl.
I was so moved by Tachibana-san's imaginary voice of Noah! Please do more!
--Alice, played by Tachibana, sings the ending theme.
Tachibana's lyrics are deep, and I sang them with emotion even when practicing, but when it came to recording, I was told, "That's fine, but listening to it every week is a bit heavy, so why not tone down the emotional involvement?" So I sang with the image of delivering the song in a bar. The lyrics are linked to episode 2, and I imagined the light I saw when I met Noah. She's still incomplete. I'm also incomplete in some ways, so there were some parts that resonated with me.
--What was the recording like? The appearance of a stellar cast of voice actors, including Kazuhiko Inoue, Shinichiro Miki, Koji Yusa, Daisuke Ono, and Kengo Kawanishi, has also been a hot topic.
When I worked with Miyashita- san-senpai, I could sense his ease and grandeur from his acting.
Nanami: Everyone is so kind. Even when I stumbled, they watched over me and spoiled me (laughs). I wanted to embrace the younger generation like my seniors, and I also received support from my juniors.
It was Nanami who created the atmosphere for Tachibana !
◇Want to become smarter in 2026?
--This is the January broadcast. What are your aspirations for 2026?
Tachibana-san, I'm healthy! I collect all the epidemic diseases. I'm a university student, so I catch them all when I go to school. I get through busy periods, and then when I have time off, I catch a cold... In 2026, health comes first, and I'll do my best to aim for zero illnesses.
Miyashita: In 2025, I was able to tackle many new things, such as "Noble Reincarnation," so in 2026, I want to be even more greedy and try new things. I want to express myself more and meet various characters.
Nanami: I want to become smarter so that I can get a little closer to Noah...
Tachibana-san, what are you doing?
Nanami-san does brain training... (laughs).
