The performance that singer Tamaki Koji held with his band "Kyoko Gakudan" at Tokyo Garden Theater (Koto Ward, Tokyo) on November 12th will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW on January 1st next year. Ahead of the program, WOWOW released a live report of the performance on December 26th.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the popular concert series in which Tamaki embarks on a musical journey with his hometown orchestra. To commemorate this, he embarked on a nationwide hall tour, titled "Tamaki Koji with Hometown Orchestra 10th Anniversary Concert Tour 2025 ~blue eggplant field," with 34 performances in 24 locations from August to November. The tour concluded with a performance at Tokyo Garden Theater, broadcast and streamed by WOWOW.
The first song performed by the 15-member hometown band at the final performance was "Akogare." The strings woven together created a solemn atmosphere. Tamaki appeared on stage, picked up a blue Basqualino that had been placed in the center of the stage, and sang "Aoi Nasu Batake."
The large-scale band Ensemble created excitement in "Taiyo-san," which made full use of water drums originating from Africa and added a touch of folk music. The audience was so fired up by the energy of the song "Kokontozai," which featured repeated "ganbare" (gambare) over an eight-beat rock and roll tune that it made the entire audience stand up in response.
The second half of the concert began with an instrumental version of "Aoi Nasu Batake." Tamaki then sang three ballads: "Shojo," "Shiawase no Lamp," and "Searchlight." He then performed "Jirettai," with its solid, danceable, and addictive refrain, and "Sukisa," featuring an intense guitar solo with a hard rock flair. A musical feast that transcended genres unfolded.
They continued with hits such as "JUNK LAND," "Pastoral," and "Melody," and after an encore, the final song they sang was their latest song, "Fanfare," which was written for the first time in three years.
WOWOW will broadcast and stream the final performance of the tour, titled "Koji Tamaki with Kokyo Gakudan 10th Anniversary Concert Tour 2025 ~blue eggplant field," on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 7:00 PM on January 1st.
Additionally, "Tamaki Koji - Hometown Orchestra Concert Tour 2015" will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 3:45 pm on February 8th.
