It was also announced that an original short anime, "Narumi's Weekdays," will be produced. The announcement was made as an early birthday present for Gen Narumi, who was born on December 28th. The title is reminiscent of the spin-off "Hoshina's Holiday," which was screened alongside the first season compilation in March 2025 and caused a stir. More details will be announced in the future.
The announcement was made at the "Jump Festa 2026" event being held at Makuhari Messe (Mihama Ward, Chiba City). Original author Matsumoto commented, "Hello everyone. I'm Matsumoto, the original author. I'd like to thank everyone who came to see Kaiju No. 8's stage performance and all the performers as always. This year has been a very big year for Kaiju No. 8, with the broadcast of the second season and the release of the game."

It was a happy five years, supported by so many readers and allowed me to draw whatever I wanted as I pleased. The manga serialization has ended, but Kafka and the others continue to come alive and create new scenes as we discuss this and that and what to do together with the anime and game production staff. I believe a sequel has been announced, but "Kaiju No. 8" as a work will continue for a while longer. "Kaiju No. 8" began serialization in "Shonen Jump+" in July 2020 and aired its final episode on July 18th. Set in Japan, a monster superpower where monsters mercilessly invade everyday life, the story follows the adventures of protagonist Kafka Hibino, whose body is transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature. It also garnered attention when it was selected as the Grand Prize winner in the Web Manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2021." The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2024, and the second season aired from July to September this year.
