The popular NHK variety show "Bura Tamori" (General), in which TV personality Tamori visits various towns, will air a segment titled "Kawasaki Daishi and Railways ▼ The Surprising Relationship Between Kawasaki Daishi's Popularity and Railways, and the Mysteries of New Year's Shrine Visits" from 7:30 pm on December 20th. Continuing from the previous episode, the show will delve into the secret behind the popularity of Kawasaki Daishi, one of Japan's leading New Year's shrine visit spots.
This time, we will unravel the history of how Kawasaki developed greatly thanks to the railway that was built during the Meiji period for the purpose of pilgrimages to Kawasaki Daishi. What is the surprising relationship between the New Year's custom of "Hatsumode" and the railway? We board the Keihin Kyuko Daishi Line and head to the last stop. Tamori is excited to see a factory located on the old abandoned railway line.
Tamori's travel partner will be NHK Hiroshima announcer Mana Sato, and the narration will be provided by singer-songwriter Aimyon.
