Singer Hiroko Moriguchi will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on December 4th.
Aiming to become a singer from a young age, she attended the local music school of composer Masaaki Hirao. Hirao gave her lessons on her debut song, which she released in 1985, but he passed away suddenly from illness in 2017. While watching a video of Hirao's lessons from the time of her debut, which was left at the TV station, she tearfully recounts how she almost called him, forgetting that he had passed away.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of her debut. Just as she was planning many events for the anniversary year, she fell during a live performance and suffered an avulsion fracture of her ankle. Although she had intended to return to work immediately, she ended up being wheelchair-bound for nearly a month, and for the first time in her life, had to take time off work. She was depressed because she had been so determined, but she says that her cheerful mother, who saw her on crutches and praised her by saying, "I want to take some cute photos," helped her stay positive.
