Professional figure skater Shoma Uno will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on December 3rd.
Having won three Olympic medals, the most in the Japanese figure skating world, she retired from competitive skating in May of last year. While she thought things would be easier, she says she sometimes spends six hours a day at the rink preparing for ice shows. When she was active, she would only practice for herself and only about four hours a day, taking fatigue into account, but now she has a wider range of responsibilities, teaching other performers how to skate and overseeing the overall production of the show, and she says she's busier.
She started figure skating at the age of five. She happened to be at a rink and was invited by Mao Asada, which made her want to try it. She loved skating, but she says that the reason she was able to continue practicing was thanks to her mother, who not only drove her to and from school, but also kept an eye on her while she was at the rink and scolded her.
