NHK Special's regular broadcast of the popular series "Unsolved Cases" (General TV, Saturday 10pm) will air "File.08: The Unknown Battle Between the Japanese Red Army and the Japanese Police, Part 1" on November 29th.
"File.08" focuses on the Japanese Red Army, a revolutionary group that took part in hijackings, embassy takeovers, and other incidents around the world in the 1970s. New documents and testimonies delve into the deeper aspects of the incidents, including demands for the release of comrades and ransoms. This is the first of a two-part series.
The program interviews over 100 people involved, including former police officials and former top leader of the Japanese Red Army, Fusako Shigenobu. How did the police respond? Behind the scenes of the unknown battle, the inside story of numerous incidents is revealed half a century later. What is the "ultimate question" that the incident poses to society?
"Unsolved Cases" is a popular series on NHK Special that began airing in 2011 and unravels historical cases through thorough investigative reporting. It will begin airing as a regular program in October, unearthing new facts and testimonies, while also highlighting connections to the present day and lessons learned. Announcer Mayuko Wakuda will serve as the Caster and main narrator.
