◇The following contains spoilers.
In episode 7, a serial murder case targets classmates one after another. Despite Takagi (Mamiya) and Sonoko's efforts to stop the murders, the fourth victim is finally discovered. The body of Otani (Akama Mariko), the former homeroom teacher of Class 6-1, is discovered.
At Otani's farewell party, Takagi, Sonoko, and Koyama (Shintaro Morimoto) are the focus of criticism from their classmates. Originally, it was supposed to be a problem for Sonoko and the six students whose faces were blacked out in the yearbook, but with Otani's death, unrelated students and their families are now in danger... Takagi feels responsible for dragging everyone into this, and he coldly remarks to Tsuchiya (Ayame Goriki) and Toyokawa (Inaba Yu), who want to help, and the mood between him and Koyama becomes tense.
Meanwhile, Koyama becomes worried when he is unable to contact Chonmage, also known as Hatachi (Mori Yusaku), and goes into Hatachi's apartment to search for clues. He then finds an old cell phone in the room, which contains videos from his elementary school days... Just then, Tsuchiya and Toyokawa arrive. The three of them go around to the homes of their classmates looking for clues... and so the story unfolds.
Afterwards, Takagi drops by the snack bar "Imakuni" where Sonoko, Koyama and others are hanging out, and learns that a seventh person, "Mori Tomoya," was in the video Koyama found. Furthermore, when Takagi and the others learn that Hatachi, who had been communicating with "the professor" on the message board, has arranged to meet the professor, they head to the meeting place to rescue him. Takagi and the others find Hadachi, but are separated as they chase after a face-hiding figure they believe to be the fleeing "Mori." However, the face-hiding figure manages to escape. Meanwhile, Sonoko spots Hadachi tumbling down the stairs. Rushing over to him, Sonoko sees Hadachi with a knife stuck in his neck and blood spurting out.
Social media was horrified by the shocking final scene. Comments included, "You're kidding, he's wearing a topknot!", "Is it because he's a samurai...?", "So sad," "So hard..." and "Scary, scary, scary." Additionally, while Takagi and the others were chasing the fleeing suspect, an unidentified figure was also shown behind Sonoko, who was chasing Hatatachi, leading to comments such as, "There are two culprits, right?", "Mori, doesn't it seem like there were two of you?", "The person King and the others were chasing was a decoy, so there are definitely two culprits," and "It's confirmed that Mori is on the culprit's side."
