The Gunpla model "HG 1/144 Hambrabi (GQ)" (Bandai Spirits), based on the Hambrabi from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (Geaku Axe)," will be released in June 2026. The Hambrabi piloted by Geiz Capa will be made into a three-dimensional model in the "HG" series. Its transformation into MA form has been a hot topic. Why is this transformation attracting so much attention?
◇Transformations not seen in the anime
The Hambrabi is a familiar MS (Mobile Suit) from "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam," and in "GQuuuuuuX" it appears as a transforming prototype MS developed by the Augusta Laboratory. It can transform into an MA form for long-distance travel. It was piloted by Gates Capa.
The commercialization of this model was announced at the 63rd All Japan Model Hobby Show, a model exhibition held in October, but at that point it was unclear whether it would feature a transformation gimmick. Although the official GQuuuuuuX website explains that the MA form would transform, the transformation scene was not depicted in the anime itself, which became a hot topic among fans.
According to the special program "Gunpla 45th Anniversary Special Streaming Part 3!", which was streamed on YouTube on November 18th, the model will be equipped with a Gunpla transformation gimmick under the supervision of the anime staff.
The Gunpla comes with a Fedayin rifle and a sea snake as weapons. These weapons did not appear in the anime, but the anime staff created new designs for the three-dimensional model.
◇What about Psycho Gundam and Kikeroga?
At the 63rd All Japan Model Hobby Show, a diorama of GQuuuuuuX's Hyper Gundam was exhibited, which was not for sale, and it also attracted a lot of attention. Although the release of a Gunpla model has not been announced, it was announced at the TAMASHII NATION 2025 event held in November that a figure of ROBOT SPIRITS <SIDE MS> Hyper Gundam (GQ) would be released.
Some of the "GQuuuuuuX" machines have not yet been made into Gunpla models. A figure of Kikeroga has been announced, but a Gunpla version has yet to be released, and some fans are hoping for Gunpla versions of Sharon's Rose and Psycho Gundam.
