Talent Hideyuki Nakayama will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on November 20th.
Something unexpected happened this year, sparked by his calligraphy, which he has been practicing since elementary school. After his first solo exhibition of calligraphy last year, which attracted over 30,000 visitors, he received a call from an old friend he lived with 40 years ago, who is now a digital finger painter active around the world, creating works on his smartphone, inviting him to hold a solo exhibition together. When he found out that the venue was the Cannes Film Festival, he immediately thought, "Is this a scam?" The collaborative work between his own calligraphy and his old friend was well received there, and it was a dream-like experience.
He traveled to Cannes accompanied by his wife and his fourth son, who is fluent in English and joined him from the UK where he was studying, as interpreters. He has been married for 27 years to Shiraki Ayaka, a former daughter role in the Takarazuka Revue. After marriage, he struggled to raise his four sons. Of his sons, it was his eldest son, 26-year-old Nakayama Shota, who followed in his parents' footsteps and made his debut. Apparently, the reason was that he was impressed by a play his mother appeared in. Nakayama, who is always cheerful, says in a low-key manner that he wasn't the one who inspired his sons to enter the entertainment industry.
