NHK Special's popular series "Unsolved Cases" will be broadcast regularly (General TV, Saturdays at 10pm). On November 8th, they will be broadcasting "File 05: Non-existent Children: The Osaka Girl Encased in Concrete Case."
In February of this year, the body of a 6-year-old girl was found stuffed inside a concrete clothing case. The "Concrete-Encased Girl Case" was discovered in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture. The biggest mystery is that her death went unnoticed for 18 years.
Through interviews, it became clear that the girl had been cut off from society, including the government, and lived as a "child that didn't exist." Why did the incident occur, and what needs to be done to prevent the same tragedy from happening again? Through original interviews, we get closer to the truth about this "child that didn't exist."
"Unsolved Cases" is a popular series on NHK Special that began airing in 2011 and unravels historical cases through thorough investigative reporting. It will begin airing as a regular program in October, unearthing new facts and testimonies, while also highlighting connections to the present day and lessons learned. Announcer Mayuko Wakuda will serve as the Caster and main narrator.
