Night drama "Hira Yasumi" 2nd episode synopsis

NHK's new night drama "Hira Yasumi" (Monday to Thursday, 10:45 p.m.) began airing on November 3rd, with viewers saying things like, "It was fun!" "It really did keep the same atmosphere as the original, which was great," "I love the atmosphere of this drama," and "Now I have more to look forward to on weekdays!"

This work is a live-action drama adaptation of the manga of the same name by Shinzo Keigo, which has been serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits since 2021, starring actor Okayama Amane. 29-year-old part-time worker Ikuta Hiroto (Okayama) inherits a single-story house from his neighbor, Wada Hanae (Negishi Tokie), and begins living with his 18-year-old cousin Kobayashi Natsumi (Mori Nana), who has moved to Tokyo from Yamagata. The story follows the two as people with difficult life problems gather around them.

The first episode begins one winter when Hiroto's neighbor, Hanae, who he's become friends with by chance, suddenly passes away, leaving him to inherit a one-story house. Three months later, his cousin Natsumi moves to Tokyo from Yamagata to attend art school. The carefree young man and the impressionable girl who has just arrived in Tokyo begin their life together in the one-story house... and so the story unfolds.

After the broadcast, comments were posted on social media such as, "The first episode of Hirayasumi was really good! It was clear that they really cared about the original work. It was Hiroto and Nacchan...! I'm looking forward to what's to come," "The first episode was interesting. I knew right away that the narrator was Kobayashi Satomi, and I thought the director must be Matsumoto Kana, and I was right. Okayama Amane and Mori Nana were great too!!," and "I had imagined that actor would be good for the role of Hiroto, and Okayama Amane was the right choice. Also, Mori Nana is as brilliant as ever at playing an ordinary girl, and it feels like a great lineup of talented actors."

The second episode will air on November 4th. Shortly after enrolling in art school, Natsumi makes a huge mistake during her self-introduction at the orientation. Self-conscious, Natsumi laments that she can't make friends because of her mistake, leading a boring student life. Meanwhile, Hiroto is concerned about Natsumi's lack of energy, but he is invited by his best friend from his school days, Noguchi Hideki (Yoshimura Kaito), to go out and have fun.

After drinking with Hideki until late at night and hearing the good news, I was on my way home when I got a sudden call from Natsumi...
