Singer Yoshimi Tendo (71) appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on November 3rd. She talked about her trademark up-style hairstyle.
On this day, Tendo appeared with her 92-year-old mother, Fudeko. Tetsuko introduced her by saying, "(Tendo) says that he owes his current success to his mother, and one of the reasons is this hairstyle," to which Tendo replied, "That's right. The nape of the neck is important when seen from behind, so I tried to show it off like this," revealing that it was Fudeko's advice.
Tendo said that her luck has improved since she changed to this hairstyle, and recalled, "I love Seiko-chan cuts, so at first I kept it that way. Then my mother told me that my nape looked pretty and that I should wear it up."
Fudeko, who is happy about her daughter's success, says that Tendo's songs are her "favorite." Tendo revealed that Fudeko never complains, explaining, "The word 'complain' doesn't exist for this mother." She confessed, "So when I think, 'So I have to be patient too,' I wonder, where should I be patient? Sometimes I think, 'Even though it's so hard,'"
"Whenever I find myself complaining, my mother says to me in Osaka dialect, 'You've become quite the boss, haven't you?' Her Osaka dialect is harsh (laughs)," he said.
