Actor Tori Matsuzaka attended the Tokyo Drama Awards 2025 ceremony held in Tokyo on October 28th. Matsuzaka, who won the Best Actor award for his role in the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Mikami Sensei" which aired in January this year, spoke of the passionate feelings of the staff and cast involved in the drama.
Matsuzaka expressed his joy at receiving the award, saying, "I am truly happy to receive such a wonderful award today." He explained, "The work ' Mikami Sensei' started from producer Iida (Kazutaka)'s passionate desire to create a school drama unlike any other before, and with a script by Shimori (Roba), the drama was brought together by staff and cast members who shared that passion."
Referring to the fact that the drama also won the MPTE AWARDS 2025 on the same day, which recognizes outstanding video production technology, he smiled and said, "I'm really happy that the cinematography team won an award."
"I feel very happy that we were able to win the award because of the combined efforts of the staff and cast, who all wanted to create a school drama unlike any other that had ever been seen before. I will savor this experience and continue to work hard on my next project," he said, looking ahead.
"Mikami Sensei " also won the Best Drama Series Award and Best Screenplay Award, winning three awards.
The Tokyo Drama Awards are an awards ceremony held for the 18th time this year to recognize outstanding television dramas, focusing on the quality of the work, marketability, and commercial viability, with the concept of "Japanese dramas that we want to show to the world."
The Grand Prix in the Best Drama Series category went to " Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea " (TBS) , Ryunosuke Kamiki, which aired in October last year. The Best Actress award went to Nao for "Tokyo Salad Bowl" (NHK), the Best Supporting Actor award went to Akihiro Kakuta for " The Hot Spot " (NTV), the Best Supporting Actress award went to Hana Sugisaki for " Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea ," the Best Screenplay award went to Roba Shimori for " Mikami Sensei," and the Best Direction award went to Ayuko Tsukahara, the director of "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea."
