The popular NHK variety show "Bura Tamori" (General), in which the entertainer Tamori visits various towns, will air a segment titled "To the Summit of Zao! The Miraculous Scenic Beauty Born from the Volcano & the Great Boom of the Edo Period" from 7:30 pm on October 25th. The setting for this trip is Zao. Tamori is also excited by the miraculous and breathtaking views born from the volcano.
The Zao mountain range straddles Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures. Why do people head to Zao? Tamori and his entourage embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of "Oyama Mairi," a religious climb that became a huge hit during the Edo period. Starting with the spectacular view of Okama, a crater lake created by a volcanic eruption, they delve into the secrets of this popular journey, from the shrine at the summit to the hot spring town at the foot of the mountain.
Tamori's travel partner will be NHK Hiroshima announcer Mana Sato, and the narration will be provided by singer-songwriter Aimyon.
