On October 24th, Kanichiro , who played Ginjiro, the husband of the heroine Toki (played by Akari Takaishi ) in the NHK Asadora drama "Bakebake " (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others), appeared live on the station's morning information program " Asaichi" (same station, Monday to Friday 8:15 AM). He revealed that he had stained his teeth to prepare for the role of Ginjiro.
The 20th episode of "Bakebake," which aired on the same day, depicted the separation of Toki and Ginjiro. At the beginning of "Asaichi,"Kanichiro responded in a "Asadora" way, saying, "Ginjiro, be happy." Hakata Daikichi, from the comedy duo "Hakata Hanamaru & Daikichi," who served as the MC, said, "According to a survey, Kanichiro himself said that Ginjiro is so similar to himself that it feels like he was written just for him," to which Kanichiro humorously replied, "I'm really an honest, serious, and good person, so I think he was written just for me." Daikichi chimed in, saying, "That's what we say."
In the middle of the program, Daikichi began by saying, "We've been receiving quite a few inquiries from viewers," and continued, "When Kanichiro was acting in ' Bakebake ,' people were talking about his yellow teeth on social media. Could you tell us the truth?" The station's announcer, Suzuki Naoko, nodded and said, "I was curious about that too."
The program also aired footage of Kanichiro's crank-in, and at this point, his teeth were pure white. When Daikichi pointed out, "Your teeth were pure white when we started filming (on video),"Kanichiro replied, "That's right, that was before we painted them (on teeth)..."Kanichiro explained that he had stained his teeth for filming, saying, "As a way to express his difficulties, including his poverty, I made his teeth yellow, or rather dirty."
Comments on social media included, "Oh, so that was part of the performance!", "The spirit of an actor!", "Now I understand something that was bothering me so much," "He put so much effort into it," "That's some amazing acting," "I'm amazed he even went so far as to stain his teeth for the role," "Just as you'd expect from the grandson of Mikuni Rentaro!", and "Kanichiro stained his teeth for the role, and he still has the blood of Mikuni Rentaro in his veins, having had his teeth pulled for the role..."
