As part of the "Monthly Eva EVANGELION 30th MOVIE Fest. 2025-2026," a revival screening project for the popular anime series "Evangelion," "Neon Neon Genesis Evangelion: 1.0 You Can (Not) Redo" began screening at 90 theaters on October 10th, grossing 118.25 million yen and attracting over 70,000 viewers over the four days. It ranked 10th in the box office revenue rankings for October 10-12th (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha), marking its first time in the top 10 since its release in 1997. Due to its popularity, some theaters have decided to extend the screening period.
"Monthly Evangelion" will screen one film per month (two films in October) for one week each month from October through February 2026. "Neon Genesis Evangelion Evangelion: 1.0 You Can (Not) Redo" will be screened from October 10-16, "Neon Genesis Vangelion Air: The End of Evangelion" from October 24-30, "Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone" from November 14-20, "Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo" from Getsuku, 2026, and "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time" from February 13-19.
"Death (True) 2 & Rebirth" will be screened as the successor to the original screening. The screening of "Evangelion: 3.0.0 You Can (Not) Redo" will also feature "EVANGELION: 3.0 (-120min.)" and "EVANGELION: 3.0 (-46h)," which were produced as bonus features on the Blu-ray disc of "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time." This will be the first theatrical release of "EVANGELION: 3.0 (-120min.)" outside of an event screening. The "Evangelion" series began airing on October 4, 1995, with the TV anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion," and will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025.
