Actress Yuka Kageyama, known for being an avid soccer fan, commented on the Japan national soccer team match "Kirin Challenge Cup 2025 Japan vs. Brazil," which will be broadcast on TV Asahi from 6:30 pm on October 14th.
Japan has played against Brazil 13 times in the past, with two draws and 11 losses, and is yet to win. Kageyama expressed his hopes for Japan's long-cherished first victory over Brazil, saying, "They are a well-known soccer powerhouse, boasting five World Cup victories, the most of any country. Brazil is truly a 'star team,' but Japan is currently said to be the 'strongest in history,' so I believe we definitely have a chance."
When asked about his impression of the Brazilian national team, he analyzed, "They have a lot of players who are really good at making vertical passes. I think it's important to have players who can predict and cut off those vertical passes! When I watch Vinicius, who is their absolute ace, play, I get the impression that he has a unique rhythm. In the last match between Brazil and South Korea, Vinicius scored one goal and made one assist, which I thought was impressive. And Esteban is only 18 years old. He's stable because he can use both feet, and I think that's where they combine what is uniquely Brazilian with something new."
"Tonight's match against Brazil is a historic victory! Everyone, let's all cheer on the Japanese national team together!" he called out.
The match against Brazil will be held at Tokyo Stadium (Chofu, Tokyo). TV Asahi's broadcast will feature host Kabira Jiei, commentators Matsuki Yasutaro and Uchida Atsuto, and pitch commentator Makino Tomoaki, with Kageyama appearing as a guest.
