Details have been announced for the "Samurai Troopers Memorial Screening - Commemorating the Announcement of a New Broadcast," a screening to commemorate the production of the new anime series, "Samurai Troopers: Armored Troopers," which will be the official sequel to the "Samurai Troopers" series, which aired on TV from April 1988 to March 1989.
The screening will be held over three days, October 28th, November 11th, and 25th, at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo), and will feature episodes carefully selected by guests. On October 28th, episodes 1 "Tokyo Under Target," 16 "Charge, Arago Castle," and 25 "Showdown! Two Water Margins" will be screened; on November 11th, episodes 27 "Anger Kongo, Destroy the Sand Demon," 39 "Shine! The Five Warriors," and episode 1 of the second OVA (Original Video Animation), "Legend of the Shining Emperor," "Mukara of the Sun," will be screened; and on November 25th, episodes 20 "A New Battle," 23 "A Battle for the Death of the White Flame," and 28 "The Appearance of the Mysterious Female Demon Kayura" will be screened.
On October 28th, Nozomu Sasaki, who plays Mori Shin, and series composition writer Ryosuke Takahashi will be appearing on stage; on November 11th, Takeshi Kusao, who plays Sanada Ryo, and Tomohiro Nishimura, who plays Shureihuang, will be appearing on stage; and on November 25th, Hiroko Moriguchi, the opening singer, and Hideo Okamoto, the armor designer, will be appearing on stage.
It was also announced that a pop-up shop, "Armored Trooper Votoms POP UP SHOP in AMNIBUS STORE," will be open from November 7th to 23rd at the AMNIBUS STORE in MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).
"Samurai Troopers" is an anime produced by Sunrise, depicting five boys who possess "Yoroigia" (armored armor) and are brought together by fate to fight against the evil army led by the evil emperor Arago. The TV anime aired from April 1988 to March 1989, and due to its popularity, an original video animation (OVA) was also produced. "Samurai Troopers Gaiden" was released in 1989, "Samurai Troopers: Legend of the Bright Emperor" from 1989 to 1990, and "Samurai Troopers: Message" in 1991. A comic book adaptation by Ryuichi Hoshino was serialized in "Comic Bonbon" (Kodansha).
"Samurai Troopers" is the first new anime in about 35 years since the 1991 OVA "Samurai Troopers MESSAGE," and the first TV anime series in about 37 years. The story is an entirely original one set in present-day Shinjuku, and is directed by Yoichi Fujita, known for "Gintama" and "Mr. Osomatsu," with series composition and scriptwriting by Shogo Muto, known for "Kamen Rider Build," "Crows Zero," and "Thermae Romae." It will be produced by SUNRISE Studios. It will air in January 2026.
