It has been revealed that the fifth chapter of the latest installment in the remake series of the popular anime "Space Battleship Yamato," "Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199," titled "The Incandescent Galactic War," will be released on February 20, 2026. The film consists of seven chapters, with the fourth chapter, "Sasha, the Light Blue Maiden," beginning screening on October 10.
A teaser visual drawn by Kia Asamiya has also been released. The visual is accompanied by the tagline "The unexpected begins." A trailer showing Yamato facing off against "something gigantic" has also been released on YouTube.
"Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199" is a re-imagining of the original works "Be Forever Yamato" and "Space Battleship Yamato III," with a new interpretation added. Harutoshi Fukui will serve as general director, and will also be in charge of series composition and scriptwriting. Fukui was in charge of series composition and scriptwriting for the remake series "Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love" and "Space Battleship Yamato 2205: A New Voyage," and will also serve as general director for this latest installment. Naomichi Yamato will serve as director.
The first Space Battleship Yamato anime series aired on TV in 1974, and has since been adapted into other films, including Space Battleship Yamato 2, Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato , and Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection. A remake of the first film, Space Battleship Yamato 2199, was screened in theaters and on TV from 2012 to 2014, and the sequel to 2199, 2202, was broadcast in theaters and on TV from 2017 to 2019. A two-part series, 2205, was screened in theaters in 2021 and 2022.
