To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the anime "You're Under Arrest," based on the manga by Kosuke Fujishima, it has been announced that the original video animation (OVA) has been telecine-ed in HD for the first time. A newly mastered high-definition Blu-ray Disc (BD) will be released on January 28, 2026, and will include a special feature: a talk by voice actors Sakiko Tamagawa and Akiko Hiramatsu from the 30th anniversary screening of the anime, held in March. The booklet will include new interviews with the original author Fujishima, as well as the main staff and cast.
The manga began serialization in the Morning Party Special Edition (Kodansha) in 1986. The story follows the crazy exploits of the super duo Tsujimoto Natsumi and Kobayakawa Miyuki, who work in the traffic division of Sumida Police Station in downtown Tokyo.
An OVA was released in 1994-95, the first season of the TV anime aired in 1996, a "Special" in 1999, the second season in 2001, and the third season in 2007. A movie version was released in 1999, marking the 25th anniversary of the series.
