It has been revealed that a new work, the first in 15 years, of Io Sakisaka's popular manga "Strobe Edge" will be published in the November issue of "Bessatsu Margaret" (Shueisha), which goes on sale on October 10th. The work commemorates the drama adaptation (on WOWOW) starring actress Riko Fukumoto and Kyohei Takahashi of the popular group " Naniwa Danshi ," and will be a spin-off story starring the popular character Takumi Ando.
The original work is the manga of the same name by Io Sakisaka, who is known for " Ao Haru Ride" and "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas," and although it has been adapted into a film, this is the first time it has been adapted into a TV series. Fukumoto plays Kinoshita Ninako, who has never known love, and Takahashi plays Ichinose Ren, who Ninako has feelings for. Also starring are Yamashita Koki as Koki Yamashita, who has a flirtatious personality but gradually falls for Ninako, Nakazawa Motoki as Korenaga Daiki, a classmate from middle school who is devoted to Ninako, and Kosaka Nao of "Hinatazaka46" as Motoki Nakazawa, Ninako's best friend who has a crush on Daiki.
The full cast has also been announced. Inoo Kei will play Kei Inoo, the owner of the cafe "Luce" where Ninako and the others start working part-time, while Hasegawa Kyoko will play Takazawa Aki, the manager of Ren's girlfriend Mayuka (Tanabe Ririka), a popular model for a fashion magazine. Nakamura Shunsuke will play Korenaga Yohei, the father of Daiki (Naka) and Mayuka. Nomaguchi Toru will play Hasebe Toshio, the homeroom teacher at Hikarigasaki High School, where Ninako and the others attend. Koyabu Chito will play Moriya Hajime, a police officer working at the police box, and Chiba Yudai will play Hoshina Chiaki, the school nurse who warmly watches over Ninako and the others' unrequited love.
