Iwamoto Renka and Tomiri Nao of the idol group Nogizaka46 attended a press conference in Tokyo recently for the drama series "Futari Escape" (TV Osaka, Saturday midnight 12:55), which begins on October 4th. Referring to the title of the drama, they spoke about their time "escaping reality."
Iwamoto, who plays the role of a "professional unemployed" senior who loves games, said, "I'm just like my senior and love games, so I spend my time playing games at home (laughs). Also, I lived in my hometown until high school, so I think going out to eat or meeting up with local friends is also a way to escape reality."
On the other hand, Tomisato replied, "When I'm sleeping. I feel so energized when I get plenty of sleep (laughs)." She continued, "Also, when I'm cooking at home with my best friend. The other day, we made omelet rice and stew! I think it's a way to escape reality and heal."
The drama is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name by Taguchi Koichi (Ichijinsha), and is an "escapist comedy" that follows the story of an unemployed, professional senior who is trying to escape reality, and a junior manga artist who is busy writing manuscripts every day. Iwamoto and Tomisato, who are actually senior and junior in the group, will play the dual lead roles as the senior and junior.
Tomisato commented, "The cast and staff were all really warm and fun on set, so I hope that that atmosphere was conveyed in the video." Iwamoto appealed, "It's a very soothing work with the theme of escaping reality. Our ad-libs are used in the film, so I think you'll be able to see our true selves and new sides, so I hope you'll pay attention to that as well."
